How long does it take to receive material?
- Our granite is imported from China. Once we have received signed shop drawings, the lead time is generally 10-12 weeks.
Does Blake Surface Solutions do custom residential work?

What products do I use to clean and seal my granite?

What is the difference between a solid surface, cultured marble, quartz, & granite material?
- Cultured Marble – Man made material. Typically used on bathtub & shower surrounds as well as vanity tops. Made of a solid surface gel-coat applied over a solid matrix. This material cannot be cut and polished. The Material must be ordered in exact sizes needed
- Solid Surface – Man made material. Typically used on bathtub & shower surrounds as well as vanity tops. Made of a complex-acrylic or polyester material. This material can be cut and polished as needed for fitting.
- Granite Material – Naturally occurring stone material that can be used in a multitude of applications from vanities and tub surrounds to countertops and floor tiles. Can be cut and polished as needed for custom fitting.
- Quartz – Man made material that contains 93% natural quartz. - Can be used in a multitude of applications from vanities to surrounds to countertops.
How fast can you typically install material in guestrooms?
- Typical Room installation is approximately 7 rooms per day. This installation figure is based on a typical hotel guestroom that includes the installation of a vanity (either on framing or on a custom base) a tub / shower surround (granite or cultured marble), a granite wet bar top, and a window sill. The installation is to be completed after vinyl wall covering has been installed within the guestroom.
Does granite material have to be sealed?
- Our material is not required to be sealed in the factory and is not sealed by our installers but it is recommended that it be sealed by the end user. It is prudent to wait until all trades are finished and there is little or no debris in the air before sealing the granite. It is not wise to seal granite at time of installation. Granite must be clean before sealant is applied. We do offer sealing services for an additional fee. It is recommended as good maintenance to seal the stone after installation and once a year thereafter.
What edge treatments are available?
Is the color/grain consistent?
- Natural Stone varies in color consistency and grain. It is always recommended to order all the stone from the same quarry at the same time to ensure the most accurate matches. Marble and Granite are natural products with veining, mineral deposits and variations in color. The actual material furnished for the project may vary relative to the approved sample.
Is there a price difference between straight front tops and bowed or curved front tops?
- Only if the top has an apron. There is an upcharge for each bowed apron due to the thickness of the bow.
